Working at Economics & Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam
The Career Services department at the UvA's Faculty of Economics and Business Economics supports students as they prepare for their future careers. Behind the scenes they coordinate internships, contribute to skills training within the curriculum and strengthen relationships with alumni.
You'll join a welcoming and ambitious team consisting of three permanent staff members and two other student assistants. The student team has its own responsibilities while working closely with the Career Services staff on a wide range of projects. There is plenty of flexibility, room to share your ideas and many opportunities to learn new skills.
What you will be doing as a student assistant
In this role, you'll support both the internship and career activities of the Economics & Business Career Centre. You'll become part of a team of three student assistants and help students prepare for internships and the start of their professional careers. Every day brings something different, from answering student questions to organising events and giving workshops. This role offers a great combination of administrative work, student contact and personal development.
These are your main responsibilities:
Internships
- Answer internship-related questions via email and the ServiceNow system;
- Process and manage internship applications and documentation;
- Advise students on internship procedures;
- Maintain and archive internship agreements.
Careers
- Promote Career Services through presentations, information sessions and events;
- Support students with CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles and career preparation;
- Help organise career events and workshops such as a CV & LinkedIn workshop, Personal Branding workshop or AI for Career Preparation workshop (approximately two hours per week);
- Manage vacancies and events in the Career Portal;
- Collaborate with student associations and contribute to improving the Career Portal, CV toolkit and event calendar.

You're enthusiastic about supporting fellow students and enjoy working in an international academic environment. You take initiative, communicate confidently and like working both independently and as part of a team. Most importantly, you're eager to learn and ready to commit to the role for at least one academic year.
- You are a third-year Bachelor's student or a (pre-)Master's student at the University of Amsterdam, and available from 1 September 2026 (or earlier);
- You have excellent communication skills in English. Dutch is a plus;
- You are proactive, flexible, creative and open to feedback.
What the University of Amsterdam offers
You'll work as a temporary employee through StudiJob for 16 hours per week at the Faculty of Economics and Business. The bruto hourly wage ranges from €18.89 to €19.07, depending on the applicable terms and conditions. You'll be able to start per September 1st for at least one academic year.
