Working as a student assistant at the University of Amsterdam

Are you a master’s student who knows their way around Zoom and Canvas? Do you like keeping things organised behind the scenes? And are you looking for a flexible side job in an international setting? Read on and apply!

Working at the Amsterdam Business School of the University of Amsterdam

You will work for the Amsterdam Business School Executive Programmes, part of the University of Amsterdam. The department offers programmes for professionals such as postgraduate programmes, part-time masters, and Executive MBA programmes. These students often combine work, study and a busy life, so good support during lectures really matters. You will be part of an international team of teaching assistants. During evening lectures, you often work independently, with support from programme assistants at a distance. On Fridays, you work more closely with programme managers and assistants from the department.

What you will be doing as a student assistant?

Your main task is to support lectures at the REC campus. You set up Zoom and the recording equipment, so hybrid lectures can start without stress. During class, you support the lecturer and the executive students with practical and technical questions. After the lecture, you make sure the recording link is posted on Canvas. You also help with practical matters around events, exams and sometimes administrative or data tasks. This makes your work varied, useful and never boring.

These will be your tasks:

  • You set up Zoom and recording equipment before lectures start;
  • You check if the room, facilities and materials are ready;
  • You support lecturers and executive students during class;
  • You post recording links on Canvas after the lecture;
  • You help with events, exams and administrative tasks when needed.

These are the working hours:

  • 1 to 2 evenings per week from Monday to Thursday, from 18:15 to 22:15.

This is what you bring

You are proactive and do not wait until someone asks you to fix something. You are flexible and can swap a shift with a colleague when needed.

  • You are a master’s student with affinity for Zoom and Canvas;
  • You work accurately, proactively and with a practical mindset;
  • You are available from September 1st and preferably for semester 1 and semester 2 of 2026-2027.

This is what the University of Amsterdam Offers

UvA offers you a flexible job of 9 hours per week starting September 1st. You earn a gross hourly wage of €19.07, plus an 8.3% end-of-year bonus on top. You work in an international academic environment with lecturers, professionals and students from different backgrounds. This role gives you useful experience in education, event support and digital learning tools.
